Dr Kim Taylor MBChB FRACS

Dr Kim Taylor is a specialist plastic surgeon working within ARC Plastic Surgery. Born and educated in New Zealand, Kim completed her medical training at the University of Otago medical school in 1996. After graduating, she gained experience in all surgical specialities in New Zealand, before undertaking her Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Plastic Surgical training in Sydney between 2005 and 2008.

In 2009, Kim obtained Fellowships in Melbourne, working for six months at ARC Plastic Surgery focussing on breast reconstruction, body surgery and skin, then 12 months at the Royal Children’s Hospital performing hand surgery and microsurgery.

Kim has undergone further training in several areas, including hand surgery, flap surgery and craniofacial surgery. She has also conducted research into a number of focus areas including paediatric burns, breast cancer surgery, skin grafts, and the treatment of congenital and post-injury hand disorders.

Kim has received considerable recognition for her work as a plastic surgeon. She won the ASAPS (Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) Essay Prize in 2008, was the ASAPS Advanced Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship recipient in 2009, and was awarded the ASAPS Best Fellow / Maiden Presentation at the ASAPS Conference in Sydney that same year. Kim was also invited as a foreign scholar to the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons 2010 Breast Surgery Symposium in the USA.

“I am passionate about excellence in plastic surgery, and my goal is to achieve the best possible surgical outcome for every one of my patients,” says Kim. “However, I also believe it is vital to develop a strong rapport with my patients, both children and adults. I spend time with each patient, focusing on their reconstructive and cosmetic goals, so that I can help them achieve the result they desire.”

As a surgeon, Kim’s primary interests are in breast reconstruction, breast, body and hand surgery (including paediatric hand surgery), skin and general reconstruction. Outside work, Kim enjoys travel, photography, practising her Italian, and activities such as Pilates, golf, hiking and scuba diving.

Kim is available for consultation at ARC Plastic Surgery’s Hawthorn East & Shepparton rooms.
